QUESTIONS ABOUT HIRING A QUALITY RESUME FIRM

Why do I need to pay for a resume writer?
If you're like most of the job seekers we work with, you want to present your career history in the best light so that you secure job interviews. But how do you boil down all of this experience to keep the resume succinct and inviting but at the same time pack it with verifiable achievements and important industry keywords?

At Advanced Career Systems, we have the answer. Capturing and synthesizing career backgrounds into powerful, compelling, and concise career marketing documents is our specialty. Our years of experience and dedication to helping job seekers succeed have qualified us as experts in our field. We know precisely how to market your strengths; downplay potential weaknesses; incorporate crucial keywords and search terms into your document; and design the resume so that it is pleasing to the eye and memorable to the reader. See Samples.

We also excel in developing resumes that solve tough job search challenges. Perhaps you are currently facing one (or more) of the following:

  • Concerns about age discrimination
  • Job hopping or extended employment gaps
  • Lack of related experience
  • Career/industry change
  • Layoff or company closure
  • Self-employment/business ownership
  • Military-to-civilian transition
  • Profit/nonprofit sector transfer
  • Consulting career launch or closure
  • Overseas-to-U.S. employment search
  • Eagerness to advance to a higher level position

If so, you're in good hands. We work closely with you to figure out the best strategy to overcome potential resume issues. Best of all, we produce proven results, as evidenced by repeated accolades and job search success stories from our clients.

Are your writers certified?
Yes. Your resume will be prepared by a professional resume writer with CPRW (Certified Professional Resume Writer) and/or NCRW (Nationally Certified Resume Writer) credentials.

What other qualifications do your writers have?
Professional Affiliations: Our writers are full-time professionals who are serious about the field of resume writing. They maintain active membership in organizations including the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARWCC), the National Resume Writers' Association (NRWA), and Career Masters Institute (CMI).

Years of Experience: Each of our writers has at least ten years of experience in writing, marketing, and graphic design. They are backed by proven success in preparing interview-generating resumes for job seekers from virtually every career field and industry (including engineering, high-tech, sales, retail, wholesale, logistics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, marketing, entertainment, finance, law, science, insurance, and education -- just to name a few). It takes time to learn what works and what does not, and we wouldn't think of pairing you with a resume writer who wasn't an expert in the field.

Academic Credentials: All of our writers hold bachelor degrees (most majored in marketing, communications, public relations, English, or counseling). The majority have earned master's degrees. They receive ongoing training in resume writing/design and industry trends through participation in educational programs sponsored by PARW, NRWA, or CMI.

Publications and Presentations: More than 150 of our writers' resumes have been featured in ten career and resume books, including McGraw Hill's The Career Change Resume: How to Reinvent Your Resume and Land Your Dream Job and JIST Works' Professional Resumes for Executives, Managers & Other Administrators. Resume samples by our writers are also featured on leading websites including Monster, MSN, and AOL. In addition, our resume writers are frequent article contributors on such topics as resume writing, resume design, and job search strategy to business and national publications and leading career websites. Many are also featured speakers at national resume writing conferences and symposiums.

What is your guarantee?
We stand by our products and back every one of our resumes unconditionally. We guarantee you will be 100% satisfied with the quality of your resume's content, design, and strategy, or we will revise the resume at no extra charge.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RESUME PROCESS

How long does the process take?
Our regular turnaround time is 10-14 business days. To do a resume properly, we devote many hours to perfecting each document. Therefore, it is advised that you allow us sufficient time to prepare your resume. However, if your need is urgent, we are often able to accommodate an expedited timeframe. (Resumes needed within 72 hours are subject to a priority handling fee.)

May I make changes to my new resume?
Absolutely. We offer a generous revision policy, so you will have ample opportunity to make changes to your document. We are committed to your 100% satisfaction.

How do I get my resume updated?
We make it easy for you to update your resume as you progress in your career. Send an email to info@resumesystems.com and let us know how many positions you will be updating, and your project will be underway.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SIGNING UP

How do I pay for services?
We honor all major credit cards -- VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Credit card payments can be made using our secure server or over the phone at 800-203-0551.

Are resume services tax deductible?
Resume design/production is a tax-deductible job-search service if you itemize on your taxes. Exclusions apply, so check with your tax advisor to see if you qualify.

What if I have questions?
Call us toll-free at 800-203-0551 or send an email to info@resumesystems.com. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

What happens after I sign up?
You will receive our proprietary Comprehensive Career Questionnaire (CRQ), which you may download and work on at your convenience. The CRQ is designed to help get you thinking about your professional accomplishments. Many of our clients tell us the questionnaire proved helpful in preparing them for interviews, as well, so completing the form is a very good exercise as you launch your job search. After you return the CRQ, your project will be underway. The certified resume writer assigned to your project will review your responses, analyze additional materials (such as performance evaluations, reference letters, sample job postings), and follow up with additional questions. You will receive your new resume in MS Word format via email within seven to ten business days (or earlier if you have made prior arrangements with your writer). From there, the resume is fine-tuned as you and your writer work as a team to make whatever minor revisions or adjustments are necessary. Your project is complete when you are 100% satisfied with your resume.
